Not Native, but an Innovator

When it first came out that there were Digital Natives and Digital Immigrants, (Prensky, 2001) I was quite upset. Due to my age, I would never be considered a native, always an immigrant. I see many digital natives that don’t know nearly as much as I do, can’t navigate on the web, and forget about [...]

My Reflections of NECC 2008

I have just finished up four days of NECC, the National Computing Educators Conference. I am really for a really LONG nap. What an incredible conference it was. The sheer numbers (over 12,000 people) and the vast amount of vendors and presentations were a bit overwhelming. What you get from technology conferences are three things: [...]

My response has been, “Like I need one MORE thing to learn and participate in.” Their response was “This is DIFFERENT, you will develop a “Personal [...]

Wee World

As music teachers we are concerned about sound, not pictures. But visual matters. I always wondered how people got the cool avatar on their webpages. Well, here it is www.weeworld.com/ You can create an avatar that best looks like you, it has a variety of clothes, settings, and additional objects. Try it out! You'll love it!

Musicans are the BEST people.

You will see this post all over my blogs. I recently came back from the Michigan Music Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I drove three hours, arriving around 5pm. As I got out of my car to get my backpack, I realized that it was quite light, and looked inside - I FORGOT MY LAPTOP. Now, anyone that knows me, I would cut off a body part before parting with my laptop. After the freakout, complete meltdown, two phone calls to my best friend (a fellow presenter and art teacher) she convinc… Continue

Getting the word out about Social Networking

As I put the finishing touches on all my presentations, I am excited that this ning will develop into a forum for others to communicate and share.

Wikis

I have tried and tried to use Wikispaces and other wiki programs. I finally found one that I can do fast and it is super easy! pbwiki.org. I put up two wiki's one for all my presentations and set up one for the teachers at my school to post their notes from the conferences they attend.

Here is my presentation wiki and the Sunset Ridge conference wiki.

Hi Carol,
It was great meeting you at a conference call for Vermont Midi last week. I think Web 2.0 has great potential for marketing and spreading the word.
