Music Teachers that are Techies

NECC

Did anyone attend NECC, National Computing Educators Conference. The lack of arts educators was apparent. Any thoughts why more arts educators don't attend?

Carol,

I think the perception of NECC is that it is a general educational technology conference (which it is) and that there aren't many music-specific sessions and offerings (which is true). People like those who are part of this Ning should propose sessions for NECC next year in Washington D. C. We did have about 40 people turn out for a Birds-of-a-Feather session on music and technology (see, http://necc2008.ning.com/group/musicedtech). There was also a music playground and a few other music-related sessions (such as yours).

There may also be a bit of a "chicken and egg" thing here - NECC doesn't accept many music proposals because a relatively small percentage of the overall attendees are interested in those topics, while not many music teachers attend NECC because there are few sessions directly applicable to their work.
