The grant was for all of our kids (170) for unlimited access! It was great deal..FREE!
Yes...I used JamStudio this Spring with my HS Band class and did a composition project. They gave ma a grant for the code allowing unlimited access for the kids and mp3 saving capability.
You could teach basic music theory concepts using a couple of excellent free websites:
1. MusicTheory.net
2. Teoria.com
Since they have Macbooks, they would love to create and compose using Garage Band!

How about using Jamstudio for creating tracks? You can use it free without saving and possibly get a grant from them. Also, Noteflight is free notation for creating and editing music.
