About Me:
Barbara Ann Freedman teaches Electronic Music & Audio Engineering at Greenwich High School in CT. She has recently been appointed President of the Music Educator Technologists Association (META), an association of music educators since 1989. Most recently, Barbara has been working as a contributing author for SoundTree writing technology-based lesson plans for use in an upcoming publication in addition to her own book soon to be published. Barbara has given in-service lectures and demonstrations and recently presented a session on Digital Distribution for Educators at PodCamp NYC 2.0. Barbara is a survivor of the NYC Public Schools as a teacher and a student. She is also a timpanist and percussionist working regularly with the Ridgefield, Bridgeport and Norwalk Symphonies and has worked with other Tri-state orchestras, opera and ballet companies. In addition to her work with orchestras, she has performed on Broadway, in popular and folk bands and Renaissance ensembles. Barbara is the Music Director of the Sound Beach Community Band, Greenwich, CT’s and one of the nation’s oldest community bands and she is the assistant/cover conductor for the Bridgeport Symphony’s July 4th Celebration Concert. She has a BS and Master’s of Music in Performance from CUNY Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music and a Professional Studies Diploma from the Mannes College of Music. She studied conducting at the Hartt School of Music, Westminster Choir College and The Julliard School.
